Let me tell you a little about myself, I'm a wife, mother and crazy busy. I have teenage twin boys and a 3 year old. They all keep me on my toes and keep things interesting.
A few months ago, I looked at a picture that I was in. I was in shock. Was that me? Did I really look like that? I was really grossed out by what I saw. I knew I had been putting on the pounds, but when I stepped on the scale to see how much damage had been done, I almost fell over. I was 7 pounds shy of weighing what I did when I went into labor with my twins...EEEEK! That's not something I thought that I would ever see again OR want to see again. I immediately started searching on the internet looking for any possible way to lose weight. I hate dieting and honestly, I have really never done it. I love carbs. me + carbs= true love.
I love southern cooking and gravy covered in gravy :)
(I guess that I love it a little too much!) A co-worker of mine was talking about how he was selling Advocare and he had something he wanted me to try. It was this little packet of 'Spark' drink mix. I threw it on my desk (almost insulted. I mean, was he telling me I was fat??). One day, as I was rummaging through my desk, frantically looking for something -story of my life- I found this little packet. I thought to myself, aw hell, I might as well...I wasn't impressed so, I just finished my drink and went on with my day. I then went on to try the infamous low carb diet. Yeah, I won't ever do that again. When I hit keytosis, I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. I had a horrible headache, nausea and dizziness. I thought to myself, there is NO reason that I have to go through this so, I quit. I guess you could say that I finally came to my senses and looked up the Advocare 24 Day Challenge, chatted with my co-worker and I ordered it. I did a TON of research on it. Like, HOURS AND HOURS. My Pinterest is covered in healthy recipes. I often thought to myself, seriously? I'm spending this amount of money on this? Insane...Totally & completely insane.
SO.........I get my package in the mail and there's so much stuff in it! I also signed up to be a distributor (just to get discounts). I was so overwhelmed. I got everything out and I was lost. I just sat there with this deer in a headlights look on my face thinking WTF have I just done? I got it figured out, used Pinterest as my meal planner, got everything divided up and chatted with my coach and I was ready to roll.
Day 1 MONDAY (eww)
It's go time!
I ordered the unflavored Fiber. ewww I've heard terrible things about this fiber business, but honestly, my coach told me to mix it with my morning spark soooo, I did. I have no problem what-so-ever taking this fiber business. Out of every single blog that I read, I not one time saw anything good about taking the fiber. As long as I can mix it with my spark...I'm golden :)
I took my shower, got ready and I was ready for breakfast (wow, breakfast already?) Since I have more weight to lose than some, I opted to order a second box of meal replacement shakes and use those during the 10 day cleanse (btw, there are two phases to this madness).
Strawberry shake?.........................................................Don't mind if I do.
I was FULL. I shook my little shaker cup all the way to the car and drank it on the way to take the kids to school. It's pretty amazing stuff & I don't mind it one bit. So, I got this nifty little app on my phone that helps me keep track of what time to do all of this stuff and there's a little notification that goes off and tells me that I need a snack. Really? A snack? I'm not going to argue with that. So, I broke out my raspberries and almonds. I ate some nuts & berries and went on my way. I was just minding my own business and another alarm went off. This one was for lunch. I did a 2nd take and then looked at the clock. I had almost worked through lunch because my stomach wasn't growling! I can honestly say, that I felt full all day long. I had a recommended lunch, another snack, supper and another snack before bed. I THINK I might like this journey...
Day 2 TUESDAY
This morning, I popped out of bed like I'd never popped before. What was wrong with me??? I went straight to the kitchen and got everything mixed together. I did a big no-no too...oopsie! You aren't supposed to weigh yourself until day 11 BUT if you're anything like me, you're going to weigh yourself. I hate not knowing and if nobody knew, it was going to be just fine...OMG. Water weight...3lbs of water weight GONE! It has to be water weight...BUT that's also numbers that the scale isn't reaching! Water or not, I liked what I saw this morning. So far, my day seems to be going great. I am more focused and I have a TON of energy. I'm really excited to see what day 3 will bring and I'm even more excited to get through the next few weeks to see the end result! When I'm done, or maybe at the "Day 11" mark, I'll post pictures. I really don't know if I want to see those again...ugh.
Day 3 WEDNESDAY
I woke up this morning feeling like a energized, bloated cow. I shit you not, my pants are too tight. I mean, I've read over and over how a lot of people get bloated on the 10 day cleanse, but crap... Seriously? I did get right out of bed, I went straight to the kitchen and mixed my fiber & Spark. Then, it happened--I looked over and saw the scale. I bit my tongue and squinted my eyes. Then, I walked away. I tried. I really did. I tried to NOT weigh myself because I was waiting on day 11, but I caved. Everything is like an experiment or research to me. I'm going to test the crap out of it before I stand behind it 110%. ummmm...did the scale really say what I think it just did? Did it just say that I was down another 2lbs?!?!?!?! I'm on DAY 3 & I'm a hot bloated mess/cow today. HOW did this just happen?? So far today, I had all of my Advocare goodies, my meal replacement shake, strawberries for a snack and my lunch was to die for. I had diced, grilled chicken, fresh diced tomatoes, a few black olives and lettuce wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla. I. AM. STUFFED. I didn't even eat that much either! So far, I really like this diet. If anything, it's teaching me how to eat A LOT healthier because with three kids, we do a lot of what's easiest for us at the time and not what's best. All of that is about to change.
